Not every reader will enjoy, as I did, the details and timeline of traveling The Oregon Trail. For example, a wagon train would follow the Big Sandy River to its confluence with the Green River, circa 70 miles which would take five to five-and-a-half days. There were many rivers to be crossed; some easy, some…
The Burning by Linda Castillo
The author/publisher description is, well, perfect. It discloses just the right amount of information without giving away the plot. And those of us who love the Kate Burkholder series know that Katie will go through some rough times, that she will get the perpetrator or perpetrators in the end, and that the murder will not be an ordinary one. And yep! I’m a Kate Burkholder series fan. BTW, I have to remind myself it’s the Kate Burkholder, not the Katie, series.

Dating an Amish Flirt by Rachel J. Good
To my astonishment, Amazon rejected this review as written. Will try again.
Some girls don’t have to even try. Boys just are attracted to them. I bet you knew someone in high school like that. I did. And, of course, I was one of the ones that didn’t. Turns out that the same thing happens in the Amish world. Rachel is such a girl. Her best friend growing up was Josh. But in the eighth grade (that’s the final grade in an Amish school), he distanced himself from her. She never knew why. But Josh knows why and he does love Rachel even though he is courting another girl. Boys still flock around Rachel like bees even though she gives them no encouragement. And the girls call her a flirt every chance they get. And they ignore her. Rachel lives a lonely life.
When the opportunity to do repairs on Rachel’s home, Josh jumps at the chance. Even if he is courting another girl. His heart wants – needs to help Rachel.
Undercover Colorado Conspiracy by Jodie Bailey
The title tells the potential reader so much. It’s a conspiracy. It takes place in Colorado. And … whoever is investigating is undercover. The man and woman undercover are posing as a military man and his wife. They are, in fact, Army Military Investigators. This is not their first mission together. They are very good at what they do. Is this adoption agency legit or crooked as a dog’s hind leg which is what is suspected? And has their undercover which took months to set up already been blown? Someone or is it more than one person wants them dead?
Tracing Your Marginalised Ancestors by Janet Few
Definition of marginalised: According to the Oxford Dictionary, an adjective meaning “(of a person, group, or concept) treated as insignificant or peripheral.” NOTE: the spelling in the United States is marginalized.
In this book, marginalized (I am a USA reviewer.) may be, for example, low society, alcoholism, witchcraft, prostitution, ethnicity, criminal (remember that many so-called crimes of yesteryear are not considered so today), discrimination — let a wealthy man lose his fortune in yesteryear and even today. He’ll soon know what marginalization is about.
A key fact concerning this book is it is based in Great Britain. References are made to the “colonies” and the United States, but the book is for those researching the British Isles.

The Flower Quilter by Mindy Steele
My description …
Ever feel like a square peg being forced into a round hole? That’s Barbara. Her mother is a quilter. Her grandmother is a quilter and by George — BARBARA IS GOING TO QUILT *AND* BE A GOOD QUILTER! Oh, her mother is not shouting but she might as well. Her parents send her to Indiana for the summer. Her task? Help her grandmother in her quilting shop. The Indiana community is different than her reserved Kentucky one. The difference? Understanding grandparents and a young Amish man (unmarried, of course) who has a landscaping business.
