by J. A. Jance
A truck crash is reported to Sheriff Joanna Brady, but the driver didn’t fall asleep. He was shot.
Ali Reynolds is tracking stolen Legos.
The truck scattered hundreds of boxes of Legos when it crashed through the guardrail. And that is how Joanna & Ali ended up working together in this novella.
All I had to see were the words Joanna Brady and J.A. Jance along with a sale price and two nanoseconds later the novella was mine. I am unashamedly hooked on the Joanna Brady series. You’ll note that I listed Joanna first in the series and honestly, to me, the story involved Joanna more than it did Ali. This title isn’t even listed in the Joanna Brady series, but I would put it as 15.75 — just before Book 16, Remains of the Innocent. It is the first novella that combines the two series.
While only 70 pages, No Honor Among Thieves is packed with action. If you are wondering about stealing Legos, have you purchased any lately? Especially, the large sets. So, yeah — they’re worth stealing.
Recommendation: Do not make this your first book of either series. I have read only one Ali Reynolds book and that was years ago. But I know, as a Joann Brady fan, that a reader won’t get many of the nuances if you haven’t read at least a couple of series. I’ll admit that this novella is for Joanna and/or Ali series fans. For me, it’s still a five-star read.
