When my first grade teacher, Miss Margaret, taught me to read my first “Dick and Jane” book — I was hooked. More than once growing up I got in trouble for reading instead of doing chores. Okay, I confess — it’s happened in my adult years as well. I’ve been an avid reader ever since.
Favorite Genres
- Amish fiction,
- Mysteries,
- Historical westerns,
- Thrillers,
- History and
- Genealogy
I love historical western romances & ‘real’ westerns. And for some reason I don’t even understand, I like “mail-order-bride” stories.
I love Amish setting books but having grown up near an old-order Amish community, I`m tough on those who think all they have to do is add a buggy & a prayer capp. Also, I love historical fiction as well as American history books.
I enjoy Christian-based novels and those that fit within any of the above are a plus.
On the technical side (some of my friends call it my “geeky” side), I read books on WordPress, Evernote, blogging and writing.
I confess — I am a genealogy nut. I read & re-read genealogy support books as well as history books concerning areas where my ancestors lived. I am not a Mayflower descendant, but I have some ancestors arrived before 1630.
What I don’t read
- Horror,
- Fantasy,
- Erotica,
- Books that lead to multiple hot sexual scenes and
- Books that have offensive words used constantly, especially the f–k word.
Experience
I have been first reader and beta reader for published and self-published authors as well as a technical editor. And post reviews on Goodreads and Amazon on a regular basis.
I’ve established this blog website initially for NetGalley reviews. I plan to include other non-NetGalley reviews in the future.
All reviews here will also be posted to Amazon and Goodreads. Some reviews will be posted to specific genre Facebook (public) groups
My Manager’s Picture
No book is read without his assistance. No review is written without him within inches of my keyboard. He thinks my reviews are the best!
