Runaway Mail-Order Bride and the Mayor by Amelia Rose
Heather’s mother died and her father is not only a drunk but is abusive. It is not a surprise that Heather runs away by becoming a mail-order bride. Her future lies in the town of Daisy Creek, Nebraska where Joshua is Mayor who has placed an ad for a mail-order bride. But this story has more than “girl meets boy, boy meets girl, big sigh!” Heather withholds certain information from Joshua and when that “information” arrives in Daisy Creek. Oh boy…
M
ail-order bride stories can be super-duper chick-lit. This mail-order book offers more than that. Reading how Heather finally is on her way to Daisy Creek is more than a light-hearted beginning. You definitely will be rooting for her.
Joshua is a likeable guy. You like him almost immediately. For this reviewer, liking the couple is crucial to enjoying the story. The book is advertised as an “Inspirational Western Mail Order Bride Romance” and that is exactly the story Amelia Rose has written.
A list of characters is given right after the Table of Contents. Readers of the previous six books in the series will encounter favorite characters. At the end of the book is an excerpt from “Indian Mail Order Bride and the Blacksmith”, the next book in the series.
Simply, this is an enjoyable read and can be read standalone. I have read the first book in the series and reviewed it on Goodreads. But that was August of 2021, several months before I started this book review site.
Yes, I recommend you put Runaway Mail-Order Bride and the Mayor on your “Want to Read” list.
